LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURES

The BA2 Anatomy of Structures course in 2020-21 was dedicated to the study of the principles of lightweight structures as one of the areas of sustainable construction. During the year, students studied historical analogues of lightweight structures, their design and calculation methods, and in the second semester they created their own 1:1 scale structures illustrating one of the principles of lightweight structures.

GOLDEN AGE OF STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

The "Anatomy of Structures" course in the 2nd year of the Bachelor's program was initiated in the framework of the exhibition "Shukhov. Formula of Architecture", which took place in the Shchusev Museum of Architecture from October 2019 to January 2020. The purpose of the "anatomy lesson" was the study of outstanding works of the Golden Age of structural engineering (late 19th - early 20th centuries), in particular, large-span metal spatial structures of public and industrial buildings.

STRUCTURES OF ICONIC BUILDINGS
The "Anatomy of Structures" course in the 2nd year of the Bachelor's program was devoted to the analysis of the structural features of iconic buildings from the Gothic times to the present, selected by students.

ROOFS
The "Anatomy of Structures" course in the 2nd year of the Bachelor's program was devoted to the study of various typologies of roofing systems and the analysis of their design features. During the 1st semester, students made digital models and wooden mockups to test their hypotheses regarding the principles of rafter and frame roofing.
